Rough day.

Manure smell in middle of the night and for an hour or so into our pre-dawn walk.

A few miles thru cornfields before the first town. Soooo excited to get coffee and breakfast.

Off the Camino after taking a wrong turn in Hospital de Orbigo. Got redirected after running into Guardia Civil and then a Camino guide who was dispatched to meet us on bike and make sure we found our way back to the main Camino route--never found the scenic route.

Sunny and HOT

Then a mile or two with gnats in our faces nonstop. Not many places to sit even if you wanted to take a break!

I vaguely recall stopping at a bus shelter and seeing a taxi sticker there...oh how I wish I'd thought to take a picture of it for later...

Once we got into Astorga it was still a few miles through the suburbs and to the albergue I'd picked out (San Javier). I regret passing up a break at the one cafe open during siesta... Then it was too late, nowhere to stop and it started raining.

Finally made it there and checked in and I guess we went to dinner, I don't remember and I didn't take any pics of it! Besides a few photos of one church in the town where we ate breakfast, these are the only pics I took all day!
